Tucker, Tori, Olivia and Kent have finally escaped Pemberwick Island only to find the mainland blasted and deserted. Storm is book two of the SYLO Chronicles and it picks up moments after book one ends. Tucker can't stop thinking about something his mother told him, Boston wins, but when they reach the city, they find what appears to be a safe and thriving group of survivors who have food and organization. After hearing a broken and mysterious message over a radio that still works, calling survivors to a location in the Nevada Desert, they're conflicted. They encounter a physician and Jon, an orderly who was helping the doctor run a scan in the lower levels when the attack happened. Scared and angry, they set off for Maine Medical Center to get Tori's gunshot wound cleaned up and re-bandaged. The owner is killed, but Kent manages to sneak up on the attacking plane with their stolen car and blow it up. Right after entering a convenience store where they're confronted by the elderly, shotgun wielding owner, they're nearly killed by a blast from one of the mysterious black planes that have the USAF logo on them. We left Tucker, Tori, Kent and Olivia walking around an empty downtown Portland, Maine dazed and shocked by the complete absence of people and the scary realization that numerous buildings had completely vanished as well. It won't be half as satisfying unless you are firmly grounded in what happened on Pemberwick Island in book one. military.ĭo not read this until you have read SYLO. But as one highway gives way to the next-and one death-defying escape precedes another-Tucker soon realizes that “trust no one” doesn’t just mean the U.S. Tucker, Tori, and friends set off cross-country on a quest for answers and, for Tucker, vengeance. How can the Air Force be perpetuating such genocide against not only its own citizens, but the world? What is SYLO’s role in this, and why did Tucker’s parents betray him by allying with SYLO, whose commander, Captain Granger, killed Tori’s father at point-blank range? And what did his mother mean when she told him to trust no one? Tucker must lead his friends to safety, but his head is spinning. This can only mean one thing: the United States is at war with itself-the deadly technology of the Air Force against the brute force of the Navy’s SYLO unit, which still holds Pemberwick Island and its residents captive. Moments before they are attacked by another of the mysterious black planes, they investigate one’s wreck and are horrified to find that it bears the logo of the U.S. That’s not their only sickening discovery.
